I’m on a pipe-organ kick. Bach, Messiaen, Ligeti, Fats Waller, Sten Sandell, Kali Malone, those two pieces by Kagel (the nutzoid one and the even more nutzoid one)… and this outstanding album by Fred Van Hove (1937–2022), which I heartily recommend. If the bass doesn’t rattle the dishes in your cupboard it isn’t loud enough.
And did you know Iannis Xenakis wrote a piece for organ? I didn’t, but now I must hear it. It’s called “Gmeeoorh”, and I think H.P. Lovecraft tried to warn us about it.
