It’s 1976.
The good news: your rock and roll band is amazing and your guitarist is hot shit.
The bad news: nobody else in Indiana thinks so and the only gigs you can get are at the Monroe County Public Library.
The good news: it’s 1978 and you move to San Francisco where surely you will be accepted.
The bad news: San Francisco audiences don’t know what to make of you, either.
The good news: The Residents like you and invite you to play on their compilation, Subterranean Modern, alongside the other great not-punk-exactly San Francisco bands of the era.
RIP Bruce Anderson of MX-80 Sound.
