How did Peter Buck come up with that dissonant, unsettling intro riff for “Feeling Gravitys Pull”? It’s so strange and good.
One commenter on YouTube mentions Andy Gill; that seems like a good working hypothesis, an earlier guitarist Buck might have had in mind.
Did Buck hear the riff in his head first and then play it, or did it start in the fingers...? Did it arrive nearly fully formed, or is it the 37th version of something?
